When are Baptisms celebrated?

Baptism preparation classes are held on the first Monday of every month at 7 p.m. in the parish center. Parents and godparents are required to attend one class before the child’s Baptism can be officially scheduled.

Requirements:
At least one godparent must be a confirmed Catholic and lead a life in harmony with the Catholic faith. Proof of Confirmation and, if applicable, marriage in the Catholic Church must be provided.
“Baptism is the sacrament of faith. But faith needs the community of believers. It is only within the faith of the Church that each of the faithful can believe. The faith required for Baptism is not a perfect and mature faith, but a beginning that is called to develop. The godparent is asked: ‘What do you ask of God’s Church?’ The response is ‘Faith!'” – CCC, para. 1253

As the first of the seven sacraments, Baptism is the “door” that gives access to the other sacraments. Baptism is the chief sacrament of forgiveness of sins, because it unites us with Christ, who died for our sins and rose for our justification. Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist constitute the “sacraments of initiation” by which a believer receives the remission of original and personal sin, begins a new life in Christ and the Holy Spirit, and is incorporated into the Church, the Body of Christ.
